Who can take part
- You are between 21 and 65 years old
- You are scheduled for elective eardrum repair surgery on one ear
- You are in generally good health (classified as ASA I or II)
- You do not have bleeding problems, infection at the injection site, or allergy to the numbing medicine (bupivacaine)
- You can cooperate while awake during surgery, and have no severe anxiety or psychiatric illness
