Who can take part
- You are 18 years or older
- You are scheduled for planned (not emergency) heart valve or bypass surgery that uses a heart-lung machine
- You expect to stay in the intensive care unit (ICU) for at least 2 days after surgery
- You are able to speak and understand German fluently
- You are able to give your own consent to participate
- You have not had a previous admission to the ICU during this hospital stay
