Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 80 years old.
  • You have had heart surgery and are currently in the intensive care unit (ICU).
  • You can safely have extra brain monitoring (EEG and oxygen sensors) along with standard blood pressure monitoring.
  • You do not have dementia, a psychiatric disorder, or take antipsychotic medications.
  • You do not have severe liver or kidney disease, a major brain injury, or epilepsy.
