Who can take part

  • You or the patient must be 2 years old or older.
  • Seizures must not have stopped after two different seizure medicines (refractory status epilepticus), and the cause was not found in the first 3 days.
  • Before these seizures, the patient had no active epilepsy or other major brain disorder.
  • The patient cannot have a serious medical illness like spreading cancer, kidney failure, liver failure, or poorly controlled diabetes.
  • For the main treatment part, the seizures must have started within the last 7 days, and the doctors must be thinking about using anakinra or tocilizumab.
