  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have been diagnosed with ARDS using the latest definition.
  • Your ARDS started within the last 72 hours.
  • You are not expected to die within the next 24 hours.
  • You are not currently on a machine that does the work of your heart and lungs (ECMO).
