Who can take part
- You are at least 18 years old
- You have ARDS diagnosed within the last 72 hours
- Your breathing problem started within 1 week of a known trigger or worsening symptoms
- You need a breathing machine and are not making their own breaths
- Your oxygen level is low despite ventilator settings (PaO2/FiO2 200 or less) and you’re on at least 5 cmH2O of pressure at the end of each breath
- You can (or a legal representative can) consent to take part
