  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You are being admitted to a medical intensive care unit (MICU).
  • You came to the MICU directly from the emergency department or from a medical ward.
  • You are critically ill and meet the hospital's ICU admission criteria.
  • You are not being transferred from another hospital, surgery, or cardiac unit.
  • You are not pregnant or a prisoner.
