Who can take part

  • You have advanced kidney cancer that has spread or cannot be treated with surgery or radiation.
  • The cancer is mostly the clear cell type (for the main part of the study), but other types may be allowed in early stages.
  • You have not had prior treatment for advanced kidney cancer, unless certain prior treatments are allowed.
  • You have at least one measurable tumor (can be seen on scans).
  • You do not have untreated brain metastases.
  • You have not had certain heart, lung, or bleeding conditions recently.
