Who can take part

  • You must be 18 years or older.
  • You must have had a stroke caused by a blocked blood vessel deep in the brain (not a large artery).
  • You must have a brain MRI that shows a specific pattern of damage in certain small arteries (like the lenticulostriate artery, the paramedian pontine artery, or the anterior choroidal artery).
  • The stroke must not be from a blood clot traveling from the heart or from a major artery blockage (50% or more).
  • You must be able to receive treatment within 24 hours of when your stroke symptoms started.
