TACE with or without a drug that blocks ABCB1 for liver cancer

Hepato Cellular Carcinoma (HCC)

This trial tests whether adding an ABCB1 inhibitor to a standard liver cancer treatment called TACE (blocking blood supply and delivering chemo directly into the tumor) works better than TACE alone. You may join if you have a liver tumor that hasn't been treated before and your liver is working well.

Who can take part

  • You have liver cancer confirmed by biopsy or special imaging (CT or MRI).
  • At least one tumor has not been treated before and is between 3 and 8 cm in size.
  • Your liver is working well—no jaundice (yellow skin/eyes), no fluid buildup in the belly (ascites), and no confusion or sleepiness from liver problems.
  • You are 18 years or older and can give informed consent.
  • If you could become pregnant, you agree to avoid pregnancy for at least 3 months after treatment.
  • You have not had prior systemic therapy for advanced liver cancer.
