Who can take part

  • You must have CLL or SLL that is confirmed by a blood test or lymph node biopsy.
  • You must be at least 65 years old.
  • You must need treatment because of symptoms like anemia, low platelets, large lymph nodes, or weight loss.
  • You must not have received prior treatment for CLL or SLL, except for certain steroids or rituximab for autoimmune problems.
  • You must be willing to provide a bone marrow or blood sample before starting the trial to check for a unique marker that allows us to track the disease over time.
  • You must be able to take oral medications and not have any serious bleeding disorders or recent heart problems.
  • You must be in generally good health for your age (able to do daily activities) and have adequate kidney and liver function.
