Who can take part
- You have CLL or SLL that needs treatment, and you have not had prior treatment for it (except short-term steroids or a CD20 antibody to lower very high white blood cells or shrink lymph nodes).
- You are 18 years or older.
- You are generally able to care for yourself (ECOG performance status 0-2).
- Your liver and kidney function are within study limits (e.g., kidney function ≥30 mL/min).
- Your blood counts are adequate: platelets ≥50,000, hemoglobin ≥8 g/dL, and absolute neutrophils ≥750.
- You can swallow pills, attend clinic visits, and agree to use effective contraception if you or your partner could become pregnant.
