This study tests whether a special drink (MediDrink Platinum+) and a bean protein supplement can help improve fitness and muscle strength in older adults who are malnourished and have muscle loss. If you are 60 or older, underweight, and have lost muscle, this trial may offer a way to see if these supplements can help you get stronger.

Who can take part

  • You are 60 years old or older.
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is 25 or less.
  • You are malnourished (scored less than 11 on a mini nutritional assessment).
  • You have muscle loss (sarcopenia) — for example, a SARC-F score of 4 or more.
  • You can eat and drink by mouth, with or without help, and are able to walk (even with a walker or cane).
  • You have not used any dietary supplements in the last 3 months, and do not have diabetes, kidney disease, or other conditions that need a special diet.
