New treatment for thyroid cancer that spread to neck lymph nodes

Who can take part

  • You have thyroid cancer that spread to lymph nodes in your neck (proven by biopsy or a special test).
  • You've already had standard thyroid surgery and lymph node removal, but the cancer returned or spread.
  • You have 5 or fewer swollen lymph nodes on one side of your neck, each smaller than about 1.2 inches.
  • You can't have another surgery to remove them, or you choose not to, and radioactive iodine didn't help or you don't want it.
  • You are generally well enough (daily activities not limited, life expectancy at least 1 year) and have good organ function (kidneys, liver, blood cells, heart).
