Who can take part
- You are 65 years or older
- You are having laparoscopic (keyhole) abdominal surgery as a planned procedure
- You are in generally stable health or have mild to moderate health issues (ASA I-III)
- Your surgery team will monitor your blood pressure through a small tube in your artery (invasive arterial line)
- You do not have severe liver or kidney problems
- You have no uncontrolled high blood pressure before surgery
- You do not have severe mental health conditions like schizophrenia, epilepsy, or Parkinson's that could interfere
- You do not need continuous blood pressure support before surgery or expect major blood loss
