Who can take part
- You are age 18 or older.
- You have a moderate to severe case of Pneumocystis pneumonia (a lung infection common in people with weakened immune systems).
- At the time of diagnosis, you needed extra oxygen (at least 4 liters per minute) to keep your oxygen levels normal.
- You have already started or are about to start taking steroids (like prednisone) to treat the pneumonia.
- After about 10 days of steroids, you are able to breathe normally without extra oxygen for at least 6 hours in a row.
