  • Diagnosed with a trochanteric hip fracture
  • Scheduled for hip surgery with general or regional anesthesia
  • Able to give informed consent yourself or have a legal representative do so
  • No severe dementia or cognitive issues that prevent handgrip strength tests or frailty questionnaires
  • No terminal illness or being in palliative care
