This trial tests a new device procedure (renal denervation) to lower blood pressure in people whose high blood pressure is not well controlled by medications or who cannot tolerate them. If you have resistant hypertension and meet the safety criteria, you may be able to join.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have been diagnosed with essential high blood pressure.
  • Your blood pressure is still high (140/90 mmHg or above) even when taking 1–2 blood pressure medicines, or you can't take the medicines you need.
  • Your daytime average blood pressure (taken with a monitor) is 135 mmHg or higher after stopping some medicines for 2 weeks, but below 170 mmHg.
  • You do not have certain kidney or artery conditions that would make the procedure unsafe.
  • You are willing to follow all study visits and procedures.
