Who can take part
- Your child is between 3 and 7 years old
- Your child is scheduled for surgery to remove tonsils and/or adenoids (adenotonsillectomy) under general anesthesia
- Your child is generally healthy or has only a mild health condition (classified as ASA I or II)
- You are willing for your child to participate and can give consent
- Your child does not have a known allergy to melatonin, dexmedetomidine, or midazolam
- Your child does not have a developmental delay, intellectual disability, or certain neurological or psychiatric conditions (like cerebral palsy, epilepsy, or ADHD)
