Who can take part

  • You have liver cirrhosis (scarring of the liver).
  • You have had bleeding from veins in your throat or stomach, or have built up fluid in your belly that is hard to treat.
  • You are scheduled to have a TIPS procedure.
  • You have not had a TIPS or other surgery that changes liver blood pressure before.
  • You have never had episodes of confusion or severe sleepiness due to liver disease.
  • You do not have advanced cancer or major organ failure.
