This study compares people with lupus whose first symptoms were typical (common) versus those whose first symptoms were unusual (atypical). The goal is to see if the type of initial symptoms affects how the disease progresses.

Who can take part
- You must have a doctor-confirmed diagnosis of lupus (SLE).
- Your lupus started either with typical symptoms like joint pain, rash, fever, fatigue, or hair loss, or with unusual symptoms like seizures, heart or lung problems, severe stomach issues, or very low blood counts.
- You must have had a positive ANA blood test if your symptoms were typical, but an ANA-negative form is also okay if your symptoms were unusual.
- Your initial symptoms cannot be explained by an infection, sepsis, or another non-lupus condition.
- You must not have a pre-existing chronic condition that could confusingly mimic lupus (such as epilepsy, primary pulmonary hypertension, or chronic liver or digestive disease).
