  • You are an adult (18 years or older)
  • You are scheduled to have an open appendectomy (not laparoscopic)
  • You do not have a bleeding disorder or take blood thinners
  • You are not allergic to any of the pain medications used in the study
  • You do not have a current infection where the injection would be given
  • You do not have chronic pain or use strong pain relievers regularly
