Who can take part

  • You are between the ages of 18 and 70.
  • You are considered healthy (ASA I) with no major medical conditions.
  • Your surgery will use inhalational (gas) anesthesia and last at least 2 hours.
  • You are not a smoker.
  • You are not pregnant, breastfeeding, or having emergency or trauma surgery.
  • You will not need a blood transfusion during surgery.
