Who can take part
- You can sign a consent form and are having planned, non-emergency non-heart surgery under general anesthesia
- Your surgery is “elective/non-emergent” and not happening inside 12 hours of being scheduled
- You must have either known coronary artery disease or at least two heart risk factors, plus a high or intermediate surgical risk procedure
- Your oxygen level before surgery must be 90% or higher on room air
- You must not have had a major heart event in the last 30 days
- You should not have severe lung problems or require oxygen therapy at home
