  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You are having a planned (non-emergency) surgery that requires a breathing tube through your nose.
  • You are not in ASA physical status 4 or 5 (very high risk due to severe health problems).
  • You do not need to be awake when the breathing tube is placed.
