Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You had heart or lung surgery (like bypass, valve repair, lung removal, or had a heart pump or breathing support machine).
  • Your doctor said you are ready for physical therapy that involves standing and walking.
  • You need quite a bit of help from your therapist to stand or walk (at least 50% assistance).
  • You speak English or Spanish.
  • You are between 5 feet 2 inches and 6 feet 4 inches tall and weigh 220 pounds or less.
  • You do not have active confusion or delirium, and you can follow simple instructions.
  • You are not on strong heart-supporting medications or certain breathing machine settings.
  • You do not have an open wound near where the exoskeleton frame would rest.
  • You are not pregnant.
