  • You are 19 years old or older
  • You have sick sinus syndrome and are getting a new pacemaker or defibrillator for the first time
  • You are willing to let the researchers access your medical records and study data
  • You do not have persistent or permanent atrial fibrillation (a type of irregular heartbeat)
  • You are expected to live at least one more year
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding
