Who can take part
- You have reduced kidney function, either a GFR (a measure of kidney filtering) below 30, or acute kidney failure (stage 3) where your creatinine level is very high or you make very little urine.
- You are expected to stay in the intensive care unit (ICU) for at least 48 hours.
- You are 18 years or older.
- You are not on long-term dialysis.
- You do not have active bleeding or a new blood clot at the start of the trial.
