Less extensive surgery after immunotherapy for advanced head and neck cancer

Locally Advanced Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Who can take part

  • You have stage III or IVa head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.
  • You have already received a combination of immunotherapy (PD-1 inhibitor) and chemotherapy (nab-paclitaxel with carboplatin or cisplatin), and your tumor shrank or disappeared.
  • You are between 18 and 75 years old.
  • Your blood counts, liver and kidney function, and other lab tests are within safe ranges before surgery.
  • You have no other active cancers or serious medical conditions that would make surgery risky.
  • If you can have children, you agree to use effective birth control during and after treatment.
