Who can take part
- You are 20 years or older.
- You have a specific type of rectal cancer (adenocarcinoma) that is locally advanced (stages cT3 or cT4 with some lymph node involvement, but no spread to other organs).
- You are healthy enough to undergo standard treatment, including radiation (25-30 sessions) and chemotherapy (capecitabine or fluorouracil, followed by 4-6 months of modified FOLFOX-6 or CAPEOX).
- You do not have active infections, HIV, untreated thyroid disease, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, or other uncontrolled autoimmune diseases.
- You are not pregnant, breastfeeding, or dependent on alcohol or drugs in the last 6 months.
