Who can take part

  • Your cancer has come back (local, regional, or a few limited spots—up to 3 lesions).
  • You’ve already had radiation to the same side, with a dose above 30 gray-equivalent (EQD2).
  • At least one of the tumor spots can be treated with heat, and that area is in the abdomen, pelvis, arms/legs, spine, or certain neck lymph nodes.
  • The plan includes a second radiation course of at least 40 gray-equivalent (EQD2).
  • You have 3 or fewer visible tumor lesions to treat (more than 3 means you likely can’t join).
  • You don’t have certain exclusions like brain metastases or a treatment location where heat can’t be applied (like lung, liver, or mediastinum).
