Energy devices vs. cold scalpel for tube and ovary removal during vaginal hysterectomy

Who can take part

  • You are a woman aged 18 or older.
  • You are scheduled to have a vaginal hysterectomy (removal of the uterus through the vagina) for pelvic organ prolapse.
  • Your doctor has recommended that your fallopian tubes and ovaries be removed during the same surgery.
  • You are willing and able to sign a consent form to participate.
  • You do not have any known or suspected cancer in your pelvic area.
  • Your surgery is not planned to use a special scope through the vagina (vNOTES) or other non-vaginal approach for the tube/ovary removal.
