Who can take part

  • You have a bladder that does not squeeze enough to empty, confirmed by a special test.
  • If you have a spinal cord injury, it must be more than one year ago and your bladder has not improved.
  • If you have tried a sacral nerve stimulator for urinary retention, it did not work.
  • Your bladder problem is not caused by a blockage or nerve damage from an upper spinal injury or conditions like multiple sclerosis or stroke.
  • You do not have a weak belly wall, large hernia, or other issue that would prevent using your belly muscle for the surgery.
