Who can take part

  • Your spinal cord injury must be above the sacral area (in the chest or neck).
  • You must be at least 12 months past your injury and your condition should be stable.
  • Your bladder must have reflex contractions (meaning it tightens on its own).
  • You cannot have an active infection in your bloodstream, open pressure sores on your pelvis, or a bleeding disorder.
  • You cannot have a urethral injury, a long-term catheter with a very small bladder capacity, or a history of severe autonomic dysreflexia.
  • You must be a man and skeletally mature (your bones have finished growing).
