Who can take part
- You need a breathing tube placed while you're awake for surgery.
- You have a difficult airway (e.g., limited neck movement, full stomach, airway blockage, facial injury, small jaw, mouth opening less than 3 cm, or high Mallampati score).
- You are between 18 and 85 years old.
- You are healthy or have mild to moderate health issues (ASA class I, II, or III).
- You do not have heart problems, brain issues, infection near the neck, allergy to numbing medicine, or take blood thinners.
- You cannot have voice changes, cough when drinking, asthma, or be in another trial.
