Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 65 years old.
- You have been diagnosed with MDS or severe aplastic anemia and are scheduled for a stem cell transplant.
- Your transplant will come from a matched sibling, a half-matched family donor, an unrelated donor, or cord blood.
- You are generally well enough to undergo transplant (ECOG score 0-2).
- Between day 4 and day 10 after transplant, your platelet count stays below 20,000 and you need platelet transfusions.
- You do not have an active serious infection, recent blood clots, or certain other health issues that would make the study unsafe.
