Who can take part

  • You must be 18 years or older.
  • You must be in the intensive care unit (ICU) or a similar critical care unit.
  • You must have a SOFA score of 2 or higher (a measure of organ health).
  • You must have had at least 3 prealbumin blood tests in the last 14 days.
  • You cannot have liver or kidney failure, certain rare diseases, or be on long-term hormone or NSAID medications.
