- You are 18 years old or older
- You were admitted to the Emergency Department and then transferred to the ICU at this hospital
- You do not have liver cirrhosis (scarring of the liver)
- You are not pregnant
- You have a working IV line (needle in your vein) for blood draws
- You stay in the ICU at this hospital—you are not transferred to another hospital before your ICU stay ends
