Fluctuation imaging for liver hemangioma diagnosis

This study tests a new ultrasound technique called fluctuation imaging to see if it can accurately diagnose hepatic hemangiomas (a common type of non-cancerous liver tumor). If you have a liver spot detected on an ultrasound, this study may help confirm what it is without needing a biopsy.

Who can take part

  • You are 19 years old or older.
  • You have a liver spot (at least 1 cm) seen on an ultrasound.
  • Either the spot's diagnosis is already known through a biopsy or another reliable scan, or it will be confirmed within one month of the study.
  • You can hold your breath for at least 5 seconds during the ultrasound.
  • The ultrasound image of your liver spot needs to be clear enough for the new technique to work.
