It's for people whose cancer has spread or is locally advanced and can't be removed with surgery.

Who can take part

  • You must be 18 years or older and have breast cancer that has spread (metastatic) or is locally advanced and can't be removed with surgery.
  • Your cancer must have a specific change (mutation) in the PIK3CA, AKT1, or PTEN genes.
  • You need to be in fairly good health: able to do light daily activities, have adequate blood counts, and normal liver and kidney function.
  • If you are a premenopausal woman, you must be willing to take a medication (LHRH agonist) to temporarily stop your ovaries from working.
  • You cannot have had prior treatment with an AKT or PI3K inhibitor like capivasertib or alpelisib.
  • If you have diabetes, it must be well-controlled (HbA1c below 8%) and you cannot require insulin.
