Surgery and hearing test link in one-sided conductive hearing loss

Who can take part

  • You have hearing loss in only one ear, and it's a type where sound is blocked from reaching the inner ear (conductive or mixed hearing loss).
  • Your eardrum is intact (no holes or perforations).
  • A hearing test shows a difference of more than 20 decibels between air and bone conduction.
  • You do not have nerve-related hearing loss (sensorineural) in that ear.
  • You do not have chronic ear infections, a perforated eardrum, or prior ear surgery on that side.
