Vagus nerve stimulation with rehab for Parkinson's

PARKINSON DISEASE (Disorder)

Part of Brain & nervous system clinical trials.

This trial tests if combining a gentle ear nerve stimulation with physical therapy can improve symptoms of Parkinson's disease. It might help people who can walk on their own and have stable medication.

Who can take part

  • You have a Parkinson's diagnosis from a neurologist
  • You are 40 years or older
  • Your Parkinson's is at a mild to moderate stage (you can walk and balance without help)

Testing a nerve stimulation device for leg movement in Parkinson's

This study tests if a device that stimulates the vagus nerve (a nerve in your neck) can improve leg muscle activity and walking balance in people with Parkinson's disease. You would participate in experiments while wearing the device to see how it affects your movement.

Ear nerve stimulation for walking and balance in Parkinson's disease

This study tests whether a gentle ear nerve stimulation device (transauricular vagus nerve stimulation) can improve walking and balance in people with Parkinson's disease. It compares the active device against a sham (inactive) device.

Vagus Nerve Stimulation to Improve Heart Function in Parkinson's Disease

This study tests a non-invasive ear-based stimulation technique (taVNS) to help regulate heart function in people with Parkinson's disease. The goal is to see if this gentle stimulation can improve blood pressure and heart rate control.

NCT07337226Recruiting
Vagus nerve stimulation and treadmill training for Parkinson's walking

This study tests whether a mild electrical stimulation on the ear (called taVNS) combined with treadmill walking can improve walking ability in people newly diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. The goal is to see if this combination helps you walk better and more safely.

NCT06642454Enrolling by invitation
Breathing-guided nerve stimulation for Parkinson's disease

This study tests a type of nerve stimulation (vagus nerve) for Parkinson's disease. It compares a method that uses your breathing cycle to deliver stimulation versus standard stimulation. The goal is to see which works better for movement and non-movement symptoms.

NCT07839481Not yet recruiting
Neck nerve stimulation for non-motor symptoms in Parkinson's disease

This study tests a gentle, non-invasive nerve stimulation device worn on the neck (vagus nerve stimulation) to see if it helps with non-motor symptoms of Parkinson's, such as mood, sleep, or digestion. You would use the device at home and attend scheduled visits to track your progress.
