- You are between 18 and 85 years old
- You have a juxtarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm (aneurysm just above the kidney arteries) scheduled for open surgery
- You are not on dialysis
- You are not taking Nicorandil or Glibenclamide (certain heart or diabetes medicines)
- You are not pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning pregnancy during the trial
