  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have a suspected serious infection (sepsis) based on tests.
  • Your blood pressure is low even after receiving fluids, and you need medication to raise it.
  • You were admitted to a special hospital unit within the last 72 hours.
  • You do not have severe artery disease or certain injuries to your arms or hands.
