  • You are 18 years or older
  • You weigh at least 55 kg (about 121 lbs)
  • You are about to start, or have started within the last 24 hours, continuous kidney dialysis for sudden kidney failure
  • Your doctor expects you to need dialysis for at least 48 hours
  • You have not been on long-term dialysis for permanent kidney failure before this hospital stay
  • You have not already had a form of kidney replacement for sudden kidney failure during this hospital stay
