- Astigmatism greater than 1 diopter
- Pupil size larger than 5.5 mm in dim light
- No uncontrolled glaucoma
- No proliferative diabetic retinopathy
- No iris neovascularization
- No history of uveitis or iritis
- No microphthalmus
- No unexplained recurrent eye inflammation
- No blindness in the other eye
- No uncontrolled systemic or eye disease
- Not pregnant or breastfeeding
- Age between 45 and 95 years
