This study looks at how a bacterial toxin (endotoxin) affects inflammation in people with alcohol use disorder compared to healthy controls. You will receive an injection of endotoxin and have blood tests to measure your body's response. This may help develop new treatments for alcohol-related health problems.

Who can take part
- Be between 21 and 65 years old
- Meet diagnostic criteria for moderate to severe alcohol use disorder (or be a healthy control with no alcohol use disorder)
- Have an AUDIT score below 20 (for the AUD group) or below 8 (for the control group)
- Not be seeking treatment for alcohol use at this time
- Drink more than 14 drinks per week if male (or more than 7 if female) for the alcohol group, or less than 8 drinks per week for the control group
- If female, agree to use an effective birth control method (unless surgically sterile)
