Testing telomere measurement to help diagnose lung cancer

Who can take part

  • You are 45 years old or older
  • You have a confirmed diagnosis of lung cancer (small cell or non-small cell) and have not yet started treatment (surgery, chemo, or radiation), OR
  • You do not have lung cancer but are at high risk (heavy smoker) OR at low risk, with no current suspicion of lung cancer
  • No history of other cancers unless you were successfully treated and cancer-free for at least 5 years
  • No major surgery in the past week, and no minor surgery or biopsy in the past 48 hours
  • No severe kidney or liver disease, active infection in the past 4 weeks, or other conditions that would make study participation unsafe
