Brain stimulation for social anxiety disorder

Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD)

This study tests if a non-invasive brain stimulation technique called theta burst stimulation can help treat social anxiety disorder. It uses magnetic pulses to target a brain area involved in fear and anxiety, and you may benefit if you have social anxiety and are not taking certain medications.

Who can take part

  • You are between 16 and 70 years old
  • You have been diagnosed with social anxiety disorder
  • You are right-handed
  • If you take psychiatric medications, the dose has been stable for at least 4 weeks
  • You do not have a history of seizures, brain tumors, stroke, or other serious brain conditions
  • You do not have metal implants in your head or neck, and you have not had this brain stimulation treatment before
