Who can take part

  • You are planning to have a scheduled (not emergency) coronary bypass surgery using a heart-lung machine.
  • You are at least 18 years old.
  • You do not have a current or past diagnosis of atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter.
  • You do not have an active cancer, advanced lung disease, or severe kidney problems (eGFR below 30).
  • You can have an abdominal ultrasound (no severe belly wounds, swelling, or shape changes).
  • You agree to join the study and sign a consent form.
